Fiona is a full-time fully licensed Consultant Breast and Reconstructive Surgeon, with an NHS practice at Wycombe Hospital and private clinics at Chiswick Medical Centre, London and BMI Chiltern, Buckinghamshire. She is also the Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust Cancer Clinical Lead, with overall responsibility for all cancers in the hospital and close working relationship with other hospitals in the region.
She completed her undergraduate medical degree in medicine and surgery and Bachelor of Sciences degree in Physiology with Biomedical Sciences at King's College London, then her postgraduate surgical training in North West London. She is a fully trained and accredited breast surgeon with reconstructive experience from the three largest tertiary oncoplastic units in London: The Royal Marsden Hospital; Charing Cross Hospital (Imperial College); and St Bartholomew's Hospital.
All of Fiona's clinics are One-Stop i.e. a patient will be seen by her and a consultant radiologist (if imaging such as an ultrasound scan and/or mammogram and/or biopsy) at the same appointment. This enhances the patient experience, and allows Fiona to fully assess and reassure patients at that appointment, reducing the number of visits required and associated worry and anxiety. This is an ideal appointment for women who would like regular breast screening and surveillance.
Fiona is a specialist in the treatment of breast cancer, with a tailored approach to each patient, using oncoplastic remodelling techniques and reconstructions. She has a keen interest in risk-reducing procedures (offering joint procedures with a consultant gynaecologist), breast cancer in younger women and benign breast diseases e.g. breast pain, breast cysts. She is able to see patients of all ages, including children.
Fiona has led the way with using technology for her patients. In 2021, she introduced the use of a Magseed (Endomag) for the localisation of impalpable cancers and digital consent (Concentric) into her daily practice. She is also busy raising awareness of breast cancer and fund-raising for charities Macmillan Cancer Support, Prevent Breast Cancer, LE&RN, Breast360, American Society of Breast Surgeons Foundation.
She was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2018. She is on the General Medical Council's specialist register for general surgery (GMC No. 4549831) and started as a full-time consultant in 2019. She is a Fellow member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the Royal Society of Medicine, the Association of Breast Surgery (UK), the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the European Society of Surgical Oncology.
In addition, Fiona has a wealth of experience of healthcare systems around the world, having worked in Singapore, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates. She has a demonstrable record in medical management at national, regional and local levels, and an interest in medical education and mentoring of surgical trainees.
She was born and raised in London, and currently lives in West London, UK with her husband, three children and very much loved dog.
