Dr Vivek Misra is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist who specialises in breast cancer, rectal cancer and spinal metastatic disease and cord compression. He treats his patients using chemotherapy, hormone therapy, biological therapy and radiotherapy

Dr Misra graduated from JIPMER, Pondicherry, India in 1995 and was awarded the gold medal for the top undergraduate in his course group. He went on to complete his post-graduate medical and specialist Clinical Oncology training in the UK. He gained a MRCP (UK) in 1999 and obtained his FRCR (Oncology) in 2003. From 2005 he has been a Consultant in Clinical Oncology at The Christie NHS Trust, Manchester.

He is a member of the Breast and Gastrointestinal disease groups and is a principal investigator for several national and international clinical trials. He has a particular research interest in the management of Spinal Cord Compression and late effects of Pelvic radiotherapy. Dr Misra is also actively involved in the development of new radiotherapy techniques, including stereotactic body radiotherapy at The Christie.

As chair of the Metastatic Spinal Cord Compression (MSCC) Group he leads the MSCC service in Manchester. He was instrumental in the development of an integrated co-ordination service in the area; bringing together a multi-disciplinary team to provide high quality care for a complex group of patients.
