About

Dr. Tamer Al-Sayed is a Consultant in Acute Medicine and the acute kidney injury clinical lead, currently developing clinical guidelines. He specialises in internal medicine and the kidneys, particularly the emergency aspects and their interface with critical care medicine. Nephrology is his parent specialty, and he also has a renal sub-speciality. His clinical interests are in renal disorders and acute kidney injury, with emphasis on risk recognition, early detection, and intervention in both oncology and non-oncology patient populations. He also has an interest in electrolyte and acid-base disturbances, particularly in patients receiving systemic anticancer chemotherapy. Dr. Tamer is The Royal College Tutor for University Teaching of South Manchester and final year medical student lead, committing time outside his clinical work to teaching and training with an emphasis on the incorporation of basic medical sciences at the bedside.
