Prof Deep is a well trained paediatrician who is an expert in all aspects of paediatric conditions with a particular interest in acute paediatric conditions especially paediatric sepsis. He has authored the widely acclaimed international guidelines on sepsis in children ( Surviving Sepsis Campaign) which are followed globally.
Prof Deep is the main author for the National Paediatric Sepsis Toolkits for Paediatrics which was released in the House of Commons. He has co-authored the safety netting leaflet for sepsis awareness for parents in the UK. He is actively involved in sepsis awareness campaigns for the schools ( where he trains parents and school nurses in spotting signs of sepsis early) and GPs.
Prof Deep has featured in various high profile media articles/ TV programmes highlighting the importance of diagnosing and treating sepsis early. Prof is the medical advisor to the UK Sepsis Trust Executive Committee and represented paediatric intensive care in the Core Panel Group to standardise pathways for the care of acutely unwell children in the Emergency Department.
Prof Deep is the chair of Scientific Affairs for the European Society of Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care- ESPNIC where he leads groups on kidney and liver failure.
Prof Akash Deep is a Paediatric Intensivist and Director of Paediatric Intensive Care at King's College Hospital. He trained in prestigious Mumbai and Chandigarh Institutes and sub-specialized in Paediatric Intensive Care at Great Ormond Street Hospital, St Mary's Hospital and Royal Brompton Hospital, London.
Prof Deep is actively involved in clinical research and has published widely in peer-reviewed journals. He regularly presents his work and lectures in the UK and abroad.
