Sritharan Kadirkamanathan is a distinguished Consultant Upper GI, Laparoscopic, and Robotic Surgeon. He holds numerous clinical and academic positions, including Honorary Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary, University of London and Anglia Ruskin University. He has previously served as an Honorary Consultant and Senior Lecturer at The Barts, the Royal London, Homerton Hospitals, and Queen Mary, University of London. With a special interest in upper gastrointestinal, endoscopic, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery, Mr. Kadirkamanathan has made significant contributions to his field.Mr. Kadirkamanathan has played a pivotal role as Lead Clinician for the Essex-wide cancer network for oesophageal and gastric cancers from 2005 to 2010. He serves as a Special Advisor to NICE on Interventional procedures and has been a Clinical Lead and course organiser for the Master of Surgery course in minimally invasive and robotic surgery at Anglia Ruskin University. His expertise is sought after by several national and international bodies, including serving as a Medical Advisor to the CVS (Cyclical Vomiting Syndrome) Society, UK, and Medtronic USA. He is also a reviewer for NIHR Grant Applications and the Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology and an educational and clinical supervisor for Sri Lankan surgical trainees.Mr. Kadirkamanathan's clinical interests include gastric pacing (gastric electrical stimulation) for gastroparesis, physiology of the stomach and oesophagus, capsule endoscopy, oesophageal and gastric cancer, and advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery. He has established Broomfield as the National Centre for gastric pacing in the UK, receiving referrals from across England, Ireland, and Wales. He has also set up a laboratory at Broomfield for testing oesophageal and stomach functions and has pioneered advanced minimally invasive surgery using both robotic and laparoscopic techniques for benign and malignant diseases of the oesophagus and stomach.Mr. Kadirkamanathan has published extensively, with original research on endoluminal surgery and capsule endoscopy. He has over 35 peer-reviewed articles and more than 150 national and international presentations to his name. He has delivered several invited lectures to learned societies such as AUGIS, BSG, Hungarian Surgical Society, OESO World Congress, European Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, and many more.In terms of training, Mr. Kadirkamanathan has proctored surgeons in Croatia and Switzerland on gastric electrical stimulation and the management of gastroparesis. He has also conducted live operating and training sessions for surgeons in Sri Lanka. His research and clinical trials include being the Principal Investigator for the STAT-ROC Trial on oesophageal cancer and the Chief Investigator for the Medtronic PSR-GES European Registry Study.Mr. Kadirkamanathan has successfully raised substantial funds for Broomfield, including £125,000 for the capsule endoscopy service, £110,000 for narrow band imaging, £500,000 for an integrated 3D laparoscopic theatre, and £1.5 million for the Da Vinci Robot Xi.Outside his professional commitments, Mr. Kadirkamanathan has a keen interest in cricket, football, golf, music, and theatre. He follows the Essex County Cricket team, is an Arsenal fan, and enjoys classical music, especially Russian music from the romantic period, as well as live music events such as the PROMS.
