Dr. Vishakha Tripathi is a registered genetic counsellor with 15 years of experience and a former chair of the Genetic Counsellor Registration Board (GCRB). She completed her MBBS at Manipal University, earned an MSc in Molecular Genetics and Immunology from Brunel University, and obtained an MSc in Genetic Counselling from Cardiff University.
Currently, Dr. Tripathi leads the genetic counselling team, the HBOC family service, and the Cancer Risk Assessment Service (CRAS) at Guys and St Thomas’ Hospitals. She has also served as the London representative to the Genomics Clinical Reference Group within NHS England. Her specialist interests lie in service development and the application of advanced psychosocial skills within genetic counselling.
Dr. Tripathi is actively involved in education, co-delivering and leading the cancer genetics course for healthcare professionals alongside colleagues from King’s College London. Her work focuses on genetic counselling in the context of cancer, with a particular emphasis on inherited cancer predisposition and genetic testing for breast cancer.
With her extensive expertise and commitment to innovation, Dr. Tripathi plays a pivotal role in advancing genetic counselling services, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive risk assessments and empathetic support. Her leadership and dedication make her a respected figure in the field of genetic counselling and cancer genetics.
