Prof. Bijendra Patel is a Consultant Laparoscopic and General Surgeon. He has an NHS base at St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London Hospital, Institute of Cancer, and sees patients privately at a number of locations, including The London Bridge and the Wellington Hospitals.
Prof. Patel graduated from the University of Bombay in 1989 and undertook training in general surgery and higher specialist training in laparoscopic and gastrointestinal surgery in the UK since 1994.
His areas of interest include general and gastrointestinal surgery, laparoscopic surgery for hernia, acid reflux, gallstones and morbid obesity. He is also a specialist in surgical oncology for cancer of the stomach and oesophagus.Pof. Patel is also active in teaching, including in Acquiring Surgical Skills by Virtual Reality Simulation. He has pioneered the Masters Course in Surgical Skills and Scineces at Queen Mary, University of London and set up a virtual reality surgical simulation centre for surgeons in training.
