Jose Miguel Ferreira

Dr. Jose Miguel Ferreira is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist specialising in the treatment of head and neck cancers. He holds an NHS appointment at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, where he provides comprehensive, evidence-based cancer care alongside his academic commitments.

He completed his medical degree in 2007 and undertook specialist oncology training in Lisbon, Portugal. Following the award of a prestigious Gulbenkian PhD scholarship, he relocated to the UK to further his research at the Institute of Cancer Research and the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. He is a Member of the Royal College of Radiologists, a Collegiate Member of the Royal College of Physicians, and a member of the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology.

Dr Ferreira’s clinical expertise includes cancers of the mouth, larynx, throat, salivary glands, nasal cavity and nasopharynx. He delivers tailored treatment plans using radiotherapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy, with a strong emphasis on precision and multidisciplinary collaboration.

In addition to his clinical work, he is an Adjunct Senior Clinical Lecturer at King’s College London, leading translational research into how tumour-associated bacteria and immune responses can help personalise and improve outcomes for patients with head and neck cancer.
