Dr Patrick Gordon is a Consultant Rheumatologist at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and also sees patients privately with HCA Healthcare at London Bridge Hospital. In recognition of his dedication to patient care, he received the King’s College Hospital 2018 Patient Choice Star award.
He qualified in medicine in 1991 from King’s College and went on to complete his specialist rheumatology training in south London. He later undertook a PhD at the Lupus Unit at St Thomas’ Hospital. In 2004, he was appointed Consultant at King’s College Hospital, where he founded the Connective Tissue Disease Service. This service has since developed into a National Specialised NHS England Centre, providing care for more than 1,000 patients with a range of connective tissue disorders.
Dr Gordon is an Honorary Senior Lecturer whose research is clinically focused, particularly in the areas of lupus and myositis, supported by an active clinical trials programme. He supervises junior doctors undertaking PhD and MD research degrees and has authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications as well as four chapters in medical textbooks. He is a member of the British Medical Association, the British Society for Rheumatology, and the International Myositis Assessment and Clinical Studies Group.
