Dr Michael Mullen is a Consultant Cardiologist currently based at the NHS practice based at the Barts Heart Centre in London and his private practice is based at the Harley Street Clinic, where he is the clinical lead for structural heart intervention. He specialises in General Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology and his areas of interest are aortic stenosis, TAVI - Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implant, congenital cardiology, interventional cardiology, ASD closure - atrial septal defect, PFO - patent foramen ovale closure, MitraClip mitral valve repair and valvular heart disease.
Dr Mullen has nearly 20 years of experience in his field. He attained a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from Newcastle University in 1988. He completed his Doctor of Medicine at the University of London in 2001 and was given the honour of a Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of London in 1991. He completed the additional training, Fellowship in Congenital Heart Disease and Structural Heart Intervention at Toronto General Hospital in 2000.
Alongside Dr Mullen’s education and clinical experience, he has many affiliations and memberships including British Medical Association and British Cardiac Intervention Society. He is also active in research with interest in valvular heart disease, novel device technology, PFO closure, congenital heart disease, TAVI and MitraClip. He has over 100 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
