Dr Benjamin Jacobs is a Consultant Paediatrician based in London and specialises in all areas of childrens medicine.
After graduating with a merit in surgery from Middlesex Hospital Medical School, University of London in 1985, Dr Jacobs went on to train in paediatrics in London, after which he accepted a 4-year lecturer post at the University of Manchester as an Honorary Senior Registrar. During his time here, Dr Jacobs carried research and submitted a MD thesis centred on the psychology of children's eczema. Owing to his impressive research efforts, he was awarded a three-year fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada from 1996-1999. After completing this, achieving an MSc in Clinical Epidemiology with a thesis on influenza in children (CARIFS), he returned to the UK.
His specialist interest is in the treatment of children and teenagers with bone or musculoskeletal problems, particularly those relating to nutrition, Vitamin D, growing pains and bone disease. Dr Jacobs also has comprehensive experience in treating rare bone diseases such as rickets, osteogenesis and chronic recurrent multifocal osteomyelitis (CRMO).
Dr Jacobs often lectures at national and international conferences, sharing his research and expertise in children's bone diseases. He also speaks on behalf of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
