Dr Balvinder Wasan, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, is currently working within the Elizabeth & St Thomas' Hospitals NHS Trust, and also sees patients in a private setting.
Dr Wasan began his medical education at Imperial College Medical School (previously known as St Mary's Hospital Medical School), he graduated from this school in 1994. He then proceeded to undergo specialist training in cardiology in London, before being appointed to his current role in 2005. He has had a successful career, establishing the local angioplasty service at QEH and holding the position of Clinical Director of cardiology for 5 years. He is patient care focused helping to lead several improvement programmes in his Trust. He is also on the interventional rota at the Heart Attack Centre at St Thomas's.
Dr Wasan is an active researcher, his main focus is heart function after angioplasty and bypass surgery. His research has resulted in numerous peer-reviewed publications on cardiac function, echocardiography, atrial fibrillation, and hypertension.
