Dr Balvinder Wasan trained at St Mary’s Hospital Medical School, which is now part Imperial College Medical School. He qualified in 1994 and undertook his specialist cardiology training in London. He was appointed as an Interventional Cardiology Consultant to the Queen Elizabeth & St Thomas’ Hospitals in 2005 and he also sees patients privately.
Dr Wasan was responsible for setting up a local angioplasty service at QEH and served as Clinical Director for Cardiology from 2013-2018. He has led on numerous patient-care improvement programmes and is also on the interventional rota at the Heart Attack Centre at St Thomas’
Dr Wasan has undertaken research to investigate the changes that occur in heart function after angioplasty and bypass surgery. He is an author of multiple papers on cardiac function, echocardiography, atrial fibrillation and hypertension.
