NATURAL OR MILD IVF AT HCA UK

Why choose us?

If there’s an opportunity to support you in your fertility journey, we want to be there.  We’ll look for any and every way to help you start a family, even if you’ve been turned down elsewhere.

Our clinics are among the UK’s leading private fertility treatment centres, and we’ve helped over 23,000 babies to be born. So, you can be confident you’ll be well cared for by skilled, experienced specialists, all backed by the latest clinical techniques and advances.

Our clinics are directly linked to major hospitals, so we can also support your IVF journey if you’ve been told you’re at higher risk of complications.

Natural or natural cycle IVF is a fertility treatment that relies on your body’s natural cycle of egg production and doesn’t require any fertility drugs.

Your body produces a single egg during its monthly cycle, so natural IVF means simply collecting your egg and fertilizing it with sperm, without the artificial stimulation of regular IVF that can produce multiple eggs.

It can reduce the chances of having multiple pregnancies such as twins or triplets, and because it doesn’t artificially stimulate your ovaries, the whole process is shorter, so you can try again more quickly if it’s not successful.
Mild or mild stimulation IVF is a fertility treatment that uses a lower dose of fertility drugs, over a shorter period, than conventional IVF treatment. It’s a gentler approach to starting a family because it focuses more on the quality of your eggs and uses your natural cycle, rather than supressing it.

Because the process uses fewer fertility drugs and takes less time, it can also lessen any emotional or physical impact for you.

If you have Polycystic Ovaries (PCO) or polycystic ovarian syndrome, or a reduced ovarian reserve, mild IVF can also be a more viable fertility treatment.
Natural and mild IVF are both potential options if you’ve had IVF before because they rely on either fewer or no fertility drugs and take less time than conventional IVF. So, if the conventional process isn’t something you want to go through again, or if you have medical issues that make regular IVF difficult or impossible, it’s worth considering these treatments as potential alternatives.

NATURAL AND MILD IVF

What to expect
Deciding to undertake fertility treatment can be a significant physical and emotional step, and we’re here to help and guide you through it. We have experienced and expert teams, who will focus specifically on the best outcome for you.

Our dedication to care and clarity means you’ll be comfortable, informed and in control at every stage of the process. We have excellent facilities, decades of fertility expertise and we can carry out all tests and scans in-house.

01

Initial consultation

Once you’ve chosen your consultant, you’ll have an initial consultation with them. It’ll include a discussion about your personal and family medical history, and your general health and lifestyle choices. They’ll also carry out a thorough physical examination and talk to you about your hopes and plans for the IVF process.

It’s also an opportunity for your consultant to outline the next steps, and whether natural or mild IVF are options you should consider.

02

Tests and scans

Before you begin either natural or mild IVF, your consultant will order some scans and tests to make sure your treatment path is the right one for you, and that it stands a good chance of helping you to conceive.

Those tests will include ultrasound scans of your ovaries to check the number and quality of your eggs, and another scan of your uterus to check its size, shape and lining.

They’ll also order blood tests to check your hormone levels, which indicate the health of your eggs, and to check for any infectious diseases.

If you have a male partner, we’ll analyse his semen and give him a blood test for any infectious diseases.

Your specific circumstances might call for more tests, but your consultant will be able to guide you through each one so you’re fully aware of what’s going to happen and when.

03

Follow-up

After the fertilised embryo has been transferred back into your womb, you need to wait for two weeks before you can take a pregnancy test. We understand that this can be an anxious time, and your team at HCA UK will be available to support you.

If you do get pregnant, you’ll begin the process of monitoring and care that’s standard for all pregnant women, including regular ultrasound scans to check on your baby’s development, and antenatal care to ensure you and your baby stay healthy during the pregnancy.

04

Next steps

If your natural or mild IVF has been successful, you’ll be in a standard cycle of care and treatment for pregnant women.

But if the IVF treatment hasn’t worked, your consultant will be ready to talk through your options, and help you decide the best way forward. We know how difficult this process can be, and we’ll be there to help you with the support and information you need.

If you want to continue, you may be able to try again, potentially sooner than with conventional IVF, but your consultant will let you know the best timeline for your situation. They might also ask for more tests, to see if there are any underlying causes that need to be addressed before you can try again.

Joyces endometriosis patient experience story.jpg

How Joyce’s endometriosis nearly cost her fertility

Fifteen years after being diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), Joyce was devastated to discover her symptoms were caused by endometriosis – a condition which, left untreated, can affect fertility. Here Joyce shares her experience, and how amazing her care was under the care of Mr Denis Tsepov and his team at The Harley Street Clinic.

We set ourselves a goal and with the help of Mr Salim, we have achieved that. He is very understanding and supportive and I always felt like I was in good hands in his care.
