Dr Sheena Mankodi is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and General (Internal) Physician at The Whittington Hospital, where she serves as Clinical Lead for Gastroenterology and Lead for the Capsule Endoscopy service. She is listed on the GMC Specialist Register with accreditation in both Gastroenterology and General (Internal) Medicine.
She qualified in 2006 from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Medical School, graduating with distinction in MBBS and achieving a First Class Honours degree in Physiology (BSc). Dr Mankodi completed her postgraduate medical training in North East London.
Dr Mankodi provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic endoscopic investigations, including capsule endoscopy (PillCam), gastroscopy (oesophagogastroduodenoscopy), colonoscopy, and flexible sigmoidoscopy. Her clinical practice covers assessment and management of upper gastrointestinal symptoms such as swallowing difficulties, heartburn, reflux, indigestion, and acidity, alongside lower gastrointestinal presentations including diarrhoea, constipation, and rectal bleeding.
She also manages general gastrointestinal symptoms including abdominal pain, bloating, and unintentional weight loss, as well as anaemia and gastrointestinal causes of iron deficiency. Her specialist experience extends to irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, alcohol-related gastrointestinal conditions, and coeliac disease.
