Professor Howard Branley is a lung specialist and Consultant in Respiratory Medicine. He is listed on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register and specialises in the diagnosis and treatment for respiratory, chest and sleep disorders.
Professor Branley has more than 10 years experiences as a Consultant for the NHS and has specialised in respiratory medicine for over 20 years. He offers care to patients with cough, wheeze, breathlessness and snoring. Professor Branley has extensive knowledge and experience in a wide variety of lung diseases particularly asthma, sarcoidosis, sleep apnoea, tuberculosis (TB), pneumonia, lung cancer and pleural disease, including pneumothorax and pleural effusion. He has particular interest in seeing patients unexplained breathlessness or cough and takes a thorough, methodical approach to establish an accurate diagnosis and construct a personalised treatment plan for each patient.
Professor Branley completed his Respiratory Medicine training in various teaching hospitals across London, including Royal Brompton, Hammersmith, St Mary's and Charing Cross. He also completed training in Aviation Medicine at the Royal Air Force School of Aviation Medicine and is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
Professor Branley is an Honorary NHS Consultant in Respiratory Medicine at the Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust. In addition, he is passionate about medical education and is a Visiting Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the University of West London. He has also been an Honorary Senior Lecturer at University College London, Imperial College London and the University of Buckingham. He undergoes annual Consultant Appraisal with revalidation by the GMC.
