Professor Kavin Andi is a Consultant Maxillo-Facial Surgeon specialising in Ablative and Reconstructive Head and Neck Cancer Surgery at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, London, and Honourary Professor of Digital Engineering Applied to Surgery at Cranfield University, UK.
Kavin is also a Regional Speciality Advisor to The Royal College of Surgeons of England, External Examiner to Kings College University, MacMillan Cancer Professional Reviewer, National Institute for Health Research peer reviewer and former President of The Institute of Maxillofacial Prosthetists and Technologists.
After completing Dental and Medical degrees at Bart’s and The London Schools of Medicine and Dentistry, Kavin undertook his Basic Surgical Training in Essex before returning to the London Deanery Higher Surgical Training program in Oral & Maxillo-Facial Surgery at The Royal London Hospital; St Bartholomew’s Hospital; The Luton & Dunstable Hospital – his first link and introduction to Cranfield University; University College London and Guy’s, King’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
Following the award of the Intercollegiate Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, he was subsequently ranked first amongst the highest calibre Maxillo-Facial, ENT, and Plastic Surgeons in the United Kingdom by the Joint Committee for Higher Surgical Training for the highly competitive Advanced Head & Neck Cancer Surgery Interface Training Fellowship, which he completed at Guy’s Hospital, London, in conjunction with the award of Fellowship of The Higher Education Academy.
Professor Andi’s research interests include augmented reality for cancer surgery, virtual reality reconstruction planning, surgical robotics, the IoT and intelligent medical imaging and processing for malignancies.
