Dr Patrick Byrne is a Consultant Physician in General Internal Medicine with over 25 years experience in adult hospital medicine. He provides consultant‑led assessment and management of patients with complex and multi‑system medical conditions, offering both inpatient care and outpatient internal medicine consultations. Many patients see Dr Byrne as their first specialist point of contact, particularly when symptoms are complex, overlapping, or difficult to diagnose.
He leads the Ventilator Unit at the Royal Hospital for Neuro‑Disability in Putney, specialising in the care of patients with chronic respiratory failure and complex neurological conditions. His work emphasises multidisciplinary collaboration, long‑term condition optimisation, and high‑quality, individualised care for medically complex patients.
Dr Byrne is dually accredited in General Internal Medicine and General Practice and practiced as a GP for many years before stepping away from general practice in June 2025 to focus exclusively on his consultant physician role. He has a strong commitment to medical education and is a Fellow of four UK Royal Colleges in recognition of his contributions to clinical practice and training.
