Ms. Kate Cross is a Consultant Paediatric and Neonatal Surgeon with extensive experience in oncology surgery, particularly neuroblastoma. She specializes in laparoscopic (keyhole) and thoracoscopic surgery, especially for neonatal and acquired conditions. Ms. Cross completed her medical degree at the University of Newcastle in Australia. After training in Sydney and London, she became a Fellow of the Australasian College of Surgeons in Paediatric Surgery (FRACS). In 2007, she began her first consultant post at The Children's Hospital at Westmead in Sydney. She moved to London in 2009 to take up a consultant post at GOSH, where she is now the lead oncology surgeon and the specialty lead for the department. In 2012, GOSH presented her with the Child and Family award.Ms. Cross is highly active in clinical research and widely published in book chapters and publications. Her main areas of research include oesophageal and neonatal surgery, neuroblastoma, and minimally invasive surgery. She has spoken at numerous international conferences and raised public awareness of the dangers of button batteries through media campaigning. She is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Paediatric Surgeons (ANZAPS), British Association of Paediatric Surgeons (BAPS), the International Society of Paediatric Surgical Oncology (IPSO), and the International Society of Paediatric Oncology Europe Neuroblastoma (SIOPEN).
