Dr. Fairuz Awenat is a Chartered & Consultant Clinical Psychologist who qualified in 2004 from the University of Manchester. She has over 13 years' experience working in the NHS before moving to the independent sector. She sees patients privately at a number of locations, including HCA at The Wilmslow. Dr. Awenat previously worked at Priory Cheadle Royal as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist from January 2011 to September 2019, where she served as the Head of Psychology (Adult and Young People's Services). She provided clinical and managerial supervision to team members across the hospital while providing clinical input herself into the secure Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (PICUs). She is experienced in treating a range of mental health difficulties, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and stress, as well as physical health issues like chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, weight management, and psychological responses to physical health problems. Dr. Awenat also helps individuals who find that life is not working as they like, including relationship difficulties and interpersonal effectiveness. Her research interests include anger management, social anxiety, and psychological alternatives to psychiatric diagnosis. She is experienced in the use of CBT, Compassionate Mind Therapy, Metacognitive Therapy, Schema Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and is intensively trained in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. Her primary therapeutic modality is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a third-generation form of CBT.
