Mr. Shiv Bhanot is an established Consultant Urological Surgeon with over 15 years of experience and has carried out more than 1,000 prostatectomies, of which half are laparoscopic operations. He introduced the laparoscopic (keyhole) prostatectomy procedure in Essex in 2005 and pioneered the extraperitoneal and minimal cut laparoscopic surgery for prostate cancer, which is less traumatic and preserves potency in younger men with early prostate cancer. Mr. Bhanot deals with general urological ailments, including men's health issues, kidney stones, BPH, kidney cancer, and urinary incontinence. He has contributed to research regarding the application of various forms of energy including radio-frequency, microwaves, and lasers to prostatic enlargement, leading to improvements in diagnostic methods and surgical techniques. Mr. Bhanot is also an honorary lecturer, trains urology consultants and fellows in advanced laparoscopic surgical techniques, and is a board director for the Société Internationale d'Urologie. His areas of expertise include laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, nerve/erection preserving surgery for prostate cancers, kidney and prostate cancers, urinary incontinence, benign prostate diseases, bladder/kidney stone removal, bladder cancer, and erectile dysfunction.
