Mr Paul Thiruchelvam is a Consultant Breast Surgeon who practises at Imperial College NHS Trust in London. He specialises in the treatment of breast cancer, breast cancer risk reduction surgery, familial breast cancer, partial breast reconstruction, breast cancer-related lymphoedema, and benign breast disease. Mr Thiruchelvam obtained his medical degree from Imperial College London in 2000 and completed his surgical training at various specialist breast units in London hospitals, such as The Royal Marsden, North West Thames, and Imperial College.
He completed his surgical fellowship at the National Oncoplastic Group at the Nottingham Breast Institute, where he conducted research on breast reconstruction. Additionally, he completed a PhD in Molecular Oncology at Imperial College London in 2010. Mr Thiruchelvam has also travelled to world-class hospitals such as the Mayo Clinic and the Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in the USA to complete travelling fellowships. He was awarded a Winston Churchill Memorial Fellowship in 2016 and travelled to Japan, the USA, and the Netherlands to study specialist breast cancer treatment techniques. He is a member of the expert panel on breast cancer-related lymphoedema and has contributed to compiling the American Society of Breast Surgeons' best practice guidelines. Outside of his work, Mr Thiruchelvam enjoys rugby and travelling.
