Mr Mohammed Saeed is a highly experienced Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon who treats a broad range of conditions including colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, gallstones and hernias. He has particular expertise in haemorrhoidal artery ligation surgery, sportsman’s hernia and the metabolic response to sepsis. He graduated from the University of Manchester in 1988 and completed his surgical training in Manchester hospitals, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1992. He subsequently undertook specialist training in colorectal surgery and was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) research degree from the University of Manchester in 1999. In 2001, he was appointed Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at Stepping Hill Hospital, where he now serves as Clinical Lead for Colorectal Cancer Surgery and Head of the Department of Endoscopy.
Mr Saeed was the first surgeon in Manchester and remains one of only a small number in the UK to routinely perform the HALO procedure, a minimally invasive technique for haemorrhoids, and he is an accredited trainer for this operation. His clinical practice includes colonoscopy, colorectal surgery, endoscopy, gallbladder removal, haemorrhoidal artery ligation, laparoscopy, keyhole hernia repair and radiofrequency ablation of haemorrhoids using the Rafaelo procedure. He manages conditions such as colon and rectal cancer, gallbladder cancer, gallstones, haemorrhoids, hernia, inflammatory bowel disease and sepsis. Alongside his clinical work, he is actively involved in teaching and training junior surgeons and is a tutor for the Royal College of Surgeons.
