Dr. Michael Michell earned his medical degree from Cambridge University and assumed the role of Consultant Radiologist at King's College Hospital in London in 1986. Since 1998, he has held the position of Clinical Director for the Breast Screening Programme at King's College Hospital, as well as the National Training Centre. The Breast Screening Programme conducts routine mammography examinations for over 35,000 women annually, while the National Training Centre offers specialized training in various facets of breast radiology, catering to radiologists, radiographers, and other professionals involved in the field.

Dr. Michell has played a pivotal role in the development of the Quality Assurance Programme for the National Breast Screening Programme. He has also chaired the National Breast Screening Radiology Quality Assurance Committee and currently serves as the Lead Radiologist for Screening Quality Assurance for the London Region. His contributions extend to his membership in the Department of Health Advisory Committee for Breast Cancer Screening, and he is presently engaged with the Cancer Services Reform Group. With a wealth of knowledge and experience, Dr. Michell has delivered lectures extensively across North America, Europe, the Far East, and Australia, establishing himself as a renowned authority on all aspects of breast disease screening and diagnosis.
