Mr Masood is a Consultant Cardiologist with over 15 years of experience. He is based at West Hertfordshire Hospitals Trust, where he was Head of Department for some years, and Imperial College Hospitals Trust. He specialises in interventional cardiology, a branch of cardiology that focuses on the treatment of coronary disease using angioplasty and stents. His other special areas of interest include heart palpitations, dizziness and high blood pressure as well as angina and coronary angiography.
Following his medical qualification at the University of Cambridge, he trained in Cardiology in world renowned hospitals in London, gaining expertise in all aspects of General Cardiology. He developed a special interest, and undertook advanced training percutaneous coronary intervention. During this time he undertook research investigating myocardial blood flow in humans using a novel scanning technique.
Mr Masood was appointed as a consultant in 2005. He has expertise in cardiac CT, and is able to offer FFRCT testing, a recently introduced method to assess the severity of coronary narrowings just by CT scanning.
Alongside his clinical work, he is actively involved in research, helping to recruit patients and carry out research studies on a regular basis. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, and a member of many prestigious societies.
