Mr Ivo Dukic is a Consultant Urological surgeon with specialist interests in endourology (urological stone surgery), general urology and technology in healthcare.
After qualifying from University of St Andrews and University of Manchester he completed basic surgical training in London and Manchester in 2009. Mr Dukic completed specialist urology training in the Manchester region (North Western Deanery). He underwent further sub-specialist training at the Bristol Urological Institute, North Bristol NHS Trust, completing a fellowship in endourology and laparoscopic (keyhole) renal surgery.
Mr Dukic became a Urology Consultant in 2015, developing a wide range of interests including upper tract cancers (kidney and ureter) surgery, complex kidney stone surgery, endourology, and paediatric urology. He sub-specialises in endourology, general urology, and health informatics. Endourology is the use of cameras (a minimally invasive approach) in urological surgery. He uses these cameras along with other technology such as laser devices to treat a wide variety of conditions including kidney stones, enlarged prostate, ureteric cancer, and bladder cancer. He is also interested in using technology to improve the way healthcare is delivered and is involved in several research projects in this area. He is a high-volume stone surgeon delivering expert stone care for Birmingham patients.
Mr Dukic is a strong advocate for patient education and believes that patients should be fully informed to make their own decisions about their diseases and treatment options. He is the educational lead for urology at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust. He regularly teaches national and regional courses for trainees and is a member of the urology exit exam panel for urology training (FRCS Urol MCQ panel), and faculty for the National Urology Bootcamp.
