About
Mr. Htwe Zaw is a skilled Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specializes in foot and ankle conditions, lower limb trauma, and sports injuries. He practices at BMI The Clementine Hospital and BMI Bishops Wood Hospital in the private sector. Mr. Zaw obtained his medical degree from King's College London in 1997, and subsequently completed his specialist fellowship training at Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital, The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, and Basingstoke & North Hampshire Hospital. He also completed a fellowship at the esteemed Dresden University Hospital in Germany, where he gained expertise in managing complex foot and ankle fractures and sports injuries.
Mr. Zaw established a new foot and ankle service at The Hillingdon and Mount Vernon NHS Hospitals in 2012, where he served as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon. His comprehensive treatment approach involves collaboration with physiotherapists, podiatrists, orthotists, and plaster technicians. Since moving into the private sector in 2013, Mr. Zaw has built a thriving practice and is adept at performing various procedures such as arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, bunion surgery, cartilage regeneration procedures for foot and ankle arthritis, flatfoot and high arch surgery, correction of lesser toe deformities, ligament and tendon reconstruction, and surgery in neurological and rheumatoid patients. He also provides shockwave therapy for plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendon problems.
Apart from his clinical work, Mr. Zaw is actively involved in training junior surgeons, physiotherapists, and General Practitioners. He is a faculty member for the Imperial FRCS viva course and External Fixator course in London. Mr. Zaw is also a prolific writer and has several publications in international journals and orthopaedic textbooks. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf.
