Professor Eric Jauniaux is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with over 30 years of experience as a consultant. He was appointed Professor in Obstetrics and Fetal Medicine at University College London (UCL) in 2002 and received several international awards for his research into fetal and placental physiology, and work on placental related disorders of pregnancy.
Professor Jauniaux is part of the research team of the Early Pregnancy unit at UCLH and staff member of the Reproductive Health team at the EGA Institute for Women Health (IfWH) at UCL. He is the author/co-author of over 420 peer-reviewed original articles and has edited/co-edited 13 books, including Embryonic medicine & therapy with Sir Bob Edwards (Nobel Prize in Medicine 2010).
In 2006, he co-founded Medical Aid Films (MAF) a UK-registered charity [no 1121578] to provide multi-media programs for education and training in maternal and child health for developing countries. MAF received the BAFTA's Gift of the Academy in 2017 and UK Asian Voice Charity Awards in 2019.
His main areas of clinical expertise include obstetrics, twin pregnancies, prenatal diagnosis, antenatal care, diagnosis and management placental and umbilical cord anomalies and early pregnancy complications including recurrent miscarriages (early pregnancy loss) and office gynaecology. He also has a specialist interest in ultrasound imaging and materno-fetal medicine.
