Mr. Anwar Haq stands as a highly skilled Consultant Breast Surgeon, boasting extensive expertise across all facets of breast diseases, with a particular emphasis on the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Affiliated with the University Hospital of Birmingham Foundation NHS Trust, he collaborates closely with a team of breast specialists within a multidisciplinary framework.
Within his clinical practice, Mr. Haq operates a one-stop breast clinic, available on Tuesday evenings and Friday afternoons at the hospital. Employing a triple assessment approach, he meticulously evaluates and diagnoses breast issues in both women and men during a single visit. Demonstrating his leadership acumen, he has held roles as a Clinical Service Lead and chaired multidisciplinary teams within the breast unit.
His specialization encompasses the comprehensive management of breast diseases, with a specific focus on breast cancer. His surgical repertoire spans a wide array of procedures, including mastectomy, lumpectomy, axillary staging utilizing sentinel biopsy techniques, microdochectomy, subareolar duct excision, breast infection management, nipple eversion, benign breast lump removal, and reshaping mammoplasty post-breast cancer removal.
Having completed his training in West Yorkshire before relocating to Birmingham, Mr. Haq has also served as a consultant breast surgeon in Merseyside. He maintains active membership in the Association of Breast Surgeons and fulfills roles as the Clinical Lead and MDT chair in his breast unit.
To remain abreast of the latest advancements and continually enhance his knowledge, Mr. Haq actively participates in national and international conferences, recommended courses, and research projects as a Principal Investigator within his unit, contributing significantly to the progression of breast surgery and cancer care.
