Mr Hasan Qazi is a Consultant Urologist with specialist expertise in robotic and laparoscopic surgery, prostate cancer, and urinary tract conditions. He completed his basic surgical training in Liverpool before being awarded an MD for research into urinary bladder cancer at the University of Leicester, supported by several competitive research grants.
He became the first British trainee to undertake a 12-month Fellowship in Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery at University Hospital Leipzig under the supervision of Professor Jens-Uwe Stolzenburg, gaining advanced experience in keyhole surgical techniques. In 2013, Mr Qazi was appointed Consultant Urologist in Glasgow, where he established laparoscopic pelvic cancer surgery and developed the Robotic Prostatectomy Programme for the West of Scotland. During this period, he built and trained a multidisciplinary regional service prior to moving to St George’s University Hospital in London in 2017.
Mr Qazi is actively involved in international surgical education and serves as Course Director for the Innovations in Laparoscopy programme in Hamburg, through which he has trained more than 250 experienced urologists from across Europe. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and has presented extensively at international conferences. He has also co-authored two instructional DVDs on laparoscopic and robotic surgical techniques.
His subspecialist practice focuses on urinary symptoms in both men and women, with particular expertise in prostate cancer. He is a high-volume surgeon and trained at a centre that pioneered nerve-sparing prostatectomy, with a clinical focus on achieving optimal functional outcomes following robotic prostatectomy. His areas of practice include prostate cancer, robotic surgery, urinary bladder cancer, urinary tract infections, and pelvic pain.
Mr Qazi holds the qualifications MBBS, MRCA (Eng), MD, and FRCS (Urol).
