Miss Abedin undertook her postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Birmingham, supplemented by advanced laparoscopic surgery training at various centres across the UK. She also embarked on a travelling fellowship in the US to gain expertise in robotic surgery. Specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of gynaecological cancers, Miss Abedin is particularly adept in laparoscopic surgery, demonstrating proficiency in procedures such as ovarian cyst removal, keyhole hysterectomies, and the management of endometriosis. Her primary areas of interest encompass menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, endometriosis, and gynaecological cancers.

In addition to her clinical practice, Miss Abedin has made significant contributions to medical research, serving as a supervisor for numerous research projects and acting as the local Principal Investigator for the RoCKets study, which investigates ovarian cancer testing. She has authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and has penned a book on the MRCOG examination. Moreover, Miss Abedin holds the position of Senior Clinical Examiner at Birmingham University and conducts examinations for the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, while also leading courses for the MRCOG.
