Mr Matteo Massanova has been a Consultant Urological Surgeon for two years and specialises in pelvic surgery and pelvic malignancies (prostate and bladder cancer). He is an expert in minimally invasive surgery, with a particular focus on robotic surgery. To date, he has performed more than 350 operations as the main surgeon - including many complex procedures that other surgeons in his area are not able to offer. For example, Mr Massanova is currently the only surgeon offering robotic intracorporeal neobladder formation after radical cystectomy (removal of the bladder) locally.
Mr Massanova is an expert in both open and robotic pelvic surgery. He has a specific interest in prostate and bladder cancer, from diagnosis (flexible cystoscopy, transperineal prostate biopsy) to treatment (transurethral resection of bladder cancer, radical prostatectomy, radical cystectomy with urinary diversion). However, he also treats a range of general urological conditions such as stone disease, circumcision, vasectomy and hydrocele.
Mr Massanova has carried out over 250 robot-assisted radical prostatectomies, 70 radical cystectomies with urinary diversion and 500 general urology procedures. He is highly skilled in performing surgeries such as stone surgeries, TURPs, circumcisions, repair of hydrocele, removal of epididymal cysts and correction of varicocele.
Mr Massanova is not only a highly successful clinical urologist, but he is also an honorary lecturer at the University of Naples Federico II. His significant involvement in research has resulted in numerous publications in peer reviewed journals, with a particular focus on robotic surgery for prostate and bladder cancer.
