About
Miss Marina Fernando is a dedicated consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, serving at Homerton University Hospital. Specialising in high-risk obstetrics, acute gynaecology, early pregnancy, and outpatient hysteroscopy, she plays integral roles as the Outpatient Hysteroscopy Lead and Quality Improvement Safety Lead. Additionally, she holds a Regional Lead position in London as the Quality Improvement lead at UCLPartners, an Academic Health Science Network. Having earned her qualifications from Barts and London medical school in 2005, Miss Fernando underwent training in North East Central London. Throughout her career, she has remained dedicated to providing comprehensive care to women from diverse ethnic backgrounds, recognising and addressing their cultural needs and maternal choices.
In her role as Ambulatory Gynaecology Lead, Miss Fernando actively engages with patients, prioritising their experiences and needs within outpatient services. She specialises in treating women with menstrual disorders, postmenopausal complications, and performs outpatient gynaecological procedures, notably outpatient hysteroscopy and contraception services.
An advocate for education, Miss Fernando is involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities. She frequently shares her expertise in obstetrics and gynaecology at national and international platforms.
