His work has been presented and published at international meetings and high-impact journals, earning him the British Heart Rhythm Society Young Investigator Prize in 2014.
Subspecialty training in Electrophysiology and Device Therapy took place in Oxford, followed by a year in the lab of Professor Jon Kalman in Melbourne, where Dr. Kalla furthered his expertise in complex catheter ablation for various arrhythmias. He assumed his Consultant post at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in June 2018, focusing on the management of patients with heart rhythm disorders. This includes procedures such as catheter ablation of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, and device implantation. Additionally, Dr. Kalla oversees the Inherited Cardiac Conditions clinic, addressing genetic or inherited conditions. His research interests encompass mechanisms of atrial fibrillation, atrial imaging, and treatment of ventricular tachycardia.
Clinical services offered by Dr. Kalla include catheter ablation for supraventricular tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, and ventricular tachycardia, as well as cardiac device implantation (loop recorders, pacemakers, defibrillators), and management of Inherited Cardiac Conditions, including assessment, management, and family screening.
