Katharine James

Dr Katharine James is a clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist registered with both the Health and Care Professions Council in the UK and the Health Professions Council of South Africa. Her clinical work combines psychological and neuropsychological assessment and intervention across a broad age range.

Her academic training was completed in South Africa. She obtained a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree from the University of Cape Town in 2008, followed by a Master’s degree in Neuropsychology in 2010. She was awarded a PhD in Psychology by the University of Cape Town in 2013 and later completed a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology and Community Counselling at the University of Stellenbosch in 2016.

Dr James has worked clinically with children, adolescents, adults and older adults in a variety of settings. Her professional experience spans inpatient and outpatient services as well as occupational health environments, with clinical roles held in both South Africa and the United Kingdom. In the UK, she has practised within NHS services as well as in private healthcare.

Alongside her clinical practice, Dr James has a strong background in research. Her work focuses on psychological, neurological and neuropsychological conditions, with particular interest in the impact of physiological and psychological stress on brain function and cognition.

Her approach to practice is grounded in evidence-based methods and informed by her academic and clinical experience. Dr James provides psychological care across different life stages, tailoring her work to the individual needs of each client while maintaining a comprehensive and clinically informed perspective.
