Dr. Farhan Shahid is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist with memberships in both the British Cardiac Society (BCS) and the British Cardiovascular Interventional Society (BCIS), Dr. Shahid brings a wealth of expertise and experience to his practice.
His educational background is impressive, having graduated from the University of London and completed training in esteemed institutions across London, Manchester, Cardiff, and Swansea. He holds a BSc Honours degree in Biomedical Science from King's College London and has pursued postgraduate studies, earning a PhD degree from the University of Birmingham with a focus on Atrial Fibrillation. Dr. Shahid further honed his skills by completing a Fellowship in Complex PCI (coronary artery stenting) at The Royal Freeman Hospital in Newcastle.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Shahid is actively involved in research, participating in multiple international and national clinical trials. He has contributed significantly to the academic field with numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals. His research interests span various areas including microvascular angina, cardiac imaging in complex percutaneous intervention, atrial fibrillation, and myocardial infarction.
His expertise covers a wide range of cardiovascular conditions including chest pain management (including microvascular angina), palpitations, shortness of breath, syncope, cardiac arrhythmia, valvular heart disease, hypertension, heart attack, and heart failure. Dr. Shahid specialises in handling Complex PCI procedures using advanced techniques such as orbital atherectomy, rotablation, and intravascular lithotripsy.
Additionally, he is proficient in echocardiography, intravascular ultrasound, and optical coherence tomography, and is accredited by the British Society of Echocardiography.
