About

Dr Waseem Ashraf is a highly experienced consultant gastroenterologist. His specialist interest is in minimally-invasive techniques, such as endoscopy. He was one of the earliest capsule endoscopy operators in the world, giving him extensive expertise in this area.

Following completion of his Fellowship in Gastroenterology from the University of Nebraska Medical Centre, USA, he was took up his consultant post in gastroenterology in the UK in 1995. Throughout his career, Dr Ashraf has been active in research and has authored a number of research articles in peer-reviewed journals and also has more than 30 scientific abstract publications and a further two book chapters. 

Dr Ashraf is very experienced with endoscopic diagnostics and therapeutic techniques, in particular endoscopic treatments which minimise the need for surgery, in some cases. In addition he is particularly experienced in carrying out procedures relating to the stomach, colon, small intestine, pancreas and bile ducts. His main clinical interests include minimally-invasive procedures, bowel disease, colon cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and other gastrointestinal conditions.
