Vishal Madan

Professor Vishal Madan is a consultant dermatologist with subspecialist expertise in laser dermatology and Mohs micrographic surgery. He has more than 25 years of clinical experience in the assessment and management of complex skin conditions and currently sees patients privately at HCA UK at The Wilmslow Hospital. He holds specialist accreditation in dermatology in the UK and internationally and is one of a small number of dermatologists listed on the GMC specialist register with dual-country recognition, alongside advanced fellowship training in both laser dermatology and skin cancer surgery.

His medical and dermatology training was completed in India before he undertook the Addenbrooke’s Cambridge Medical Rotation. He later achieved a Certificate of Completion of Training in Dermatology in Manchester. His subspecialty training includes fellowship posts in laser dermatology at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and in Mohs micrographic and reconstructive surgery at the Welsh Institute of Dermatology in Cardiff. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians in 2013.

Professor Madan’s clinical practice spans medical, surgical and aesthetic dermatology. He manages a wide range of skin conditions, including acne, rosacea, alopecia, psoriasis, eczema, warts, pigmentation disorders, birthmarks and skin cancer. His procedural work includes laser treatments, Mohs surgery for basal cell carcinoma, chemical peels, dermal fillers and microneedling. He also provides mole mapping, mole and skin tag removal, and comprehensive assessment and treatment of benign and malignant skin lesions.

In addition to clinical practice, Professor Madan holds several senior professional and academic roles. He is President of the British Medical Laser Association and previously served as Secretary of the British Cosmetic Dermatology Group, contributing to the development of standards in laser and cosmetic dermatology. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester, regularly acts as an expert witness in dermatology-related legal cases, and has an extensive academic output that includes more than 130 peer-reviewed publications, 12 book chapters and several textbooks.

Professor Madan is actively involved in postgraduate education and international outreach. He has directed laser training modules for postgraduate programmes and has participated in global initiatives such as dermatology outreach camps in rural India. He is fluent in English, Punjabi and Urdu.
