About

Dr Smruta Shanbhag is a highly experienced Consultant Gynaecologist and Gynaecological Oncologist. She graduated from Goa University in 1995 before completing postgraduate training in Gynaecology, focusing her thesis on ultrasound assessment of pelvic masses. Further specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology took her to Aberdeen, followed by completion of advanced training at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, where she gained certification in Gynaecology and sub specialist qualifications in Gynaecological Oncology.

For nine years, she served as a Consultant in Glasgow before moving to the West Midlands, where she now practises at HCA Harborne in Birmingham. She is the only private-sector consultant providing gynaecological oncology services in Coventry and Warwickshire.

Dr Shanbhag’s clinical expertise spans laparoscopic and robotic surgery for both benign and malignant conditions, menstrual disorders, and complex gynaecological cancers. She offers a comprehensive, patient-centred service, tailoring care to each individual’s needs with both conservative and surgical options. She is fluent in British Sign Language, enabling clear communication with deaf patients and their families.

Actively involved in teaching, examining, and publishing, Dr Shanbhag consults on Mondays at HCA Harborne and can arrange appointments on other days, often providing same-day consultation, investigation, and management planning.
