Dr Shobhit Baijal is a Consultant Medical Oncologist at HCA Harborne Hospital in Birmingham and holds the position of Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Birmingham. His clinical practice focuses on the oncological management of lung, colorectal, and liver malignancies, and he treats these cancers across multiple hospital sites throughout the West Midlands.
He completed his medical training at St Bartholomew’s Medical School and obtained a First Class BSc Honours in Immunology and Cell Pathology from University College London. Dr Baijal went on to specialise in Medical Oncology in the West Midlands and was appointed as a Consultant at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust in 2011.
Dr Baijal specialises in a wide range of cancer drug therapies, including chemotherapy, immuno-oncology, precision oncology, and chemoembolisation. He leads a large clinical trial portfolio and acts as the UK Chief and Principal Investigator for both national and international studies. He also works closely with pharmaceutical companies to help provide access to novel treatments. His academic contributions include numerous publications, and he regularly presents at regional, national, and international cancer meetings. He is also invited to contribute as a medical expert for NICE committee reviews relating to new anti-cancer drug therapies.
In addition, Dr Baijal is a Steering Committee member of the British Thoracic Oncology Group, supporting education and professional development within thoracic oncology across the United Kingdom. He serves as an Honorary Clinical Advisor for EGFR Positive UK, sits on the Expert Panel for the Roy Castle Foundation, and is an advisor to ALK Positive UK.
