Prof. Rakhit is a highly esteemed consultant cardiologist who graduated with first class honours in Pharmacology from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School (Imperial College London). He completed post-graduate training in cardiology and general medicine at the Hammersmith, Royal Brompton, and St. Mary's hospitals, obtaining his CCT in 2003. Prof. Rakhit was a Wellcome Clinical Research Fellow at The Rayne Institute, St. Thomas's (King's College London), completing his MD thesis on nitric oxide in ischaemic pre-conditioning. He also completed an advanced clinical and research fellowship in interventional cardiology at the Swiss Cardiovascular Centre Bern. As a senior consultant, he has held leadership roles including clinical director of cardiology and is currently the divisional director of Cardiovascular Services. Prof. Rakhit is actively involved in teaching and research at UCL and was appointed professor of Cardiology in 2020. His areas of expertise include CT coronary angiogram, pacemaker implantation, cardioversion, coronary stent insertion, and management of coronary artery disease, heart attacks, and high blood pressure.
