Raef Faris

Raef Faris is a highly experienced Consultant in Gynaecology and Reproductive Medicine who has been practising at the Lister Hospital since 2007. He graduated from Cairo University in 1991 and later obtained an MSc degree in 1998. After moving to the UK in 1999, he completed his specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Ipswich Hospital and Nottingham University Hospitals, subsequently achieving MRCOG and FRCOG.

Alongside his private practice, Mr Faris has made a longstanding contribution to the NHS. Since 2009, he has run a consultant-led colposcopy clinic at Chelsea and St Mary’s Hospital, Imperial College London, and previously worked as a consultant at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Fertility Unit in 2008. He is a member of the Medical Advisory Committee at the Lister Hospital and plays an active role in quality control and clinical governance to maintain high standards of patient care.

Mr Faris has extensive expertise in all aspects of reproductive medicine, particularly in the management of complex and challenging fertility cases. His areas of special interest include endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome, recurrent implantation failure, recurrent miscarriage, low ovarian reserve, and fertility preservation. He has a strong focus on gynaecological and surgical conditions related to fertility, performing advanced hysteroscopic procedures for Asherman’s syndrome, uterine adhesions, uterine septum, and cavity fibroids, as well as laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis, pelvic adhesions, ovarian cysts, and hydrosalpinx. He is also highly experienced in the management and surgical removal of uterine fibroids through myomectomy.

In addition to fertility-focused care, Mr Faris runs a separate general gynaecology clinic at the Lister Hospital, treating a wide range of non-fertility-related gynaecological conditions. He is an accredited laparoscopic surgeon with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and holds the European Universities Diploma in Operative Gynaecological Endoscopy from Université d’Auvergne in Clermont-Ferrand, France. He is also an accredited trainer in embryo transfer, assisted conception, pelvic ultrasound, fertility service quality management with the British Fertility Society, and colposcopy through the BSCCP.

Mr Faris has published nationally and internationally in the field of reproductive medicine and is actively involved in multicentre national fertility studies. He regularly contributes to the specialty as a speaker at national and international conferences and is engaged in ongoing education, training, and fertility support networks.
