Dr Dupont is a Consultant Nephrologist with a subspecialty interest in renal transplantation. His clinical interests include the assessment of medically complex transplant recipients and prospective kidney donors. He also provides inpatient and outpatient general nephrology services at Barnet Hospital, where he is responsible for the Barnet renal dialysis unit.
Dr Dupont graduated from RCSI Medical School in Dublin in 1993. He completed his nephrology training on the North Thames specialty training scheme and was awarded a PhD in transplantation immunology from Imperial College London in 2005. In 2006, he was appointed Consultant Nephrologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Royal Free Hospital, and in 2008 he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland. He is dual accredited in Renal Medicine and General Internal Medicine. His clinical practice covers all aspects of general nephrology, including the investigation and management of acute and chronic kidney disease and difficult-to-control hypertension, as well as renal biopsy, haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and renal transplantation.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Dupont has published numerous papers and is actively involved in research in renal transplantation, including pre-transplant assessment, transplantation immunology, infectious and other complications of transplantation, and the management of chronic transplant rejection. He is also the principal investigator for several clinical trials in renal transplantation. He holds primary medical qualifications from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ireland and the National University of Ireland, both obtained in 1993, and is a member of the Renal Association, the British Transplantation Society and the London Transplant Research Network.
