Dr Naila Arebi is an accomplished Consultant Gastroenterologist who specializes in various aspects of gastroenterology, including inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), diagnostic colonoscopy, endoscopy, rectal bleeding, weight loss, Crohn's disease, and ulcerative colitis. She is currently the Director of the IBD Clinical Service at St Mark's National Bowel Hospital in London, UK.
Dr Arebi began her medical education at the University of Malta, where she earned her initial medical qualifications. She then pursued her postgraduate training in Gastroenterology and General Medicine in Oxford and Northwest Thames London, eventually earning accreditation in these specialties. She continued her training with advanced endoscopy training at St Mark's Hospital and later earned her PhD from Imperial College London.
Dr Arebi's achievements in the field of Gastroenterology have earned her recognition and numerous accolades. She has been awarded several travel scholarships, which allowed her to visit various institutions around the world, including the Medical University of South Carolina Endoscopy Unit and Kishiwada Tokusyukai Hospital and Osaka University Hospital in Japan. She has also been awarded the NIHR to improve and expand IBD services for patients strategically.
Dr Arebi has also made significant contributions to the development of new diagnostic services in Gastroenterology. She founded the Bravo Catheterless pH monitoring service to support the oesophageal diagnostic service, which has been instrumental in improving the diagnosis of oesophageal conditions. She also chairs the British Society of Gastroenterology adolescents, which is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of young people with gastrointestinal conditions.
