Dr. Michael Bellamy is a Consultant Cardiologist specializing in Cardiac Imaging/Echocardiography and Interventional Cardiology. He undertakes general cardiology clinics, seeing patients with all types of cardiology problems, while jointly leading the Imperial Percutaneous Mitral Valve Programme and Valve Clinics and Specialist Echocardiography. He also participates in the on-call rota for the West London Heart Attack Centre, performing emergency PCI (stenting) procedures in addition to elective coronary artery disease work. He performs a large number of cardiac imaging diagnostic procedures including echo, stress echo (exercise and Dobutamine), transoesophageal echo, and 3D valve assessments. Dr. Bellamy attained subspecialty expertise in echocardiography/imaging and interventional cardiology, having completed his training in London teaching hospitals and two International Fellowships abroad, the first at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, USA (valvular heart disease) and St Vincent's University Hospital, Sydney, Australia (interventional cardiology). He is actively involved in teaching, including undergraduates at Imperial College School of Medicine, Imperial MSc programs, and postgraduate Cardiology trainees. Research interests include valve disease and percutaneous mitral valve interventions/MitraClip. He has published numerous manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and contributed to book chapters in internationally renowned textbooks.
