Former President of The British Thyroid Association, Dr Vanderpump is a consultant endocrinologist currently working privately within several London Clinics. Having graduated from University of Birmingham in 1987, he underwent specialised training in diabetes and endocrinology, working through various training posts in both the Midlands and North East England.
Later in his career, he started working as a consultant at the North Middlesex Hospital NHS Trust in 1996. His work as an NHS consultant would span 20 years, before Dr Vanderpump's NHS career came to an end at the Royal Free in 2016, following 17 year career at the hospital.
Dr Vanderpump's main area of expertise is thyroid disease, however owing to his extensive medical expertise, his clinical practice includes all aspects of diabetes and endocrinology. In addition to this, he also undertakes medico-legal work within his specialty. He is the current Chair of the London Consultants’ Association.
