About

Mr Ian Chilcott is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with over 20 years of consultant-level experience, based at The Portland Hospital — the UK's only fully private maternity hospital. A Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRCOG), he qualified from St Mary's Hospital Medical School, University of London in 1993.

Mr Chilcott provides expert, consultant-led care throughout pregnancy, including both straightforward and high-risk cases, with extensive experience in vaginal birth, Caesarean section, and the management of complex obstetric conditions. Whether your pregnancy is progressing normally or requires specialist oversight, you will receive personalised, attentive care from an experienced senior consultant at every stage — from your first antenatal appointment through to delivery and postnatal follow-up.

He has particular expertise in Gynaecological surgery, including minimally invasive (keyhole) procedures, performing complex operations including total laparoscopic hysterectomy, abdominal hysterectomy, vaginal hysterectomy, as well as endometrial ablation, and hysteroscopy on a regular basis. This surgical expertise is underpinned by his senior consultant role at Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, one of London's busiest Obstetrics and Gynaecology departments, where 5,000 babies are born each year and where he maintains weekly Gynaecological operating lists alongside labour ward and outpatient commitments.

Mr Chilcott is an experienced educator, holding responsibility for the training of junior doctors in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Hillingdon Hospital, and serving as examiner for the undergraduate obstetrics and Gynaecology module at Imperial College Medical School.
