Dr Helene Menagé is a highly experienced Consultant Dermatologist based in London. She has extensive dermatological experience, with specialist interests in photodermatology, sun allergies, skin cancer and all aspects of general dermatology including inflammatory diseases such as eczema, acne and psoriasis.
After qualifying from Guys' Hospital with an intercalated BSc in Psychology, Dr Menagé trained in general medicine for 4 years at Hammersmith Hospital, Brompton Hospital, UCL St Luc Brussels, Guys' and St Thomas' Hospitals and on the St Thomas’ medical registrar rotation. Thereafter, she completed specialist training in Dermatology at St John's Institute, with research in photodermatology. In 1997 Dr Menagé was appointed as a general Consultant Dermatologist to Lewisham Hospital and in Photodermatology at St John’s Institute, Guys and St Thomas' Hospitals.
Alongside her clinical work, Dr Menagé has been involved in research and has published academic papers, book chapters and clinical case reports. She also helped develop consensus statements for the public through the British Photodermatology Group and NHS Choices, and has contributed to guideline publications for the British Association of Dermatologists.
Dr Menagé is passionate about education and professional development. She teaches medical students and dermatology trainees, oversaw the integration of medical student teaching into Lewisham dermatology, interviews for KCl and is a former senior examiner for the MSc in Clinical Dermatology (KCL).
Dr Menagé was a previous secretary/treasurer of the British Photodermatology Group and former Clinical Editor of Current Medical Literature: Dermatology. She is a past president of the St John's Dermatological Society and former president of the dermatology section of the Royal Society of Medicine. She is a trustee of the Royal Society of Medicine.
