Dr Elia Maalouf is a highly qualified General Paediatrician and Neonatologist, with a wealth experience and a specialist expertise in brain injury in preterm and term newborns. Based in London, Dr Maalouf is a part-time Consultant at Homerton University Hospital and at the Portland Hospital for Women and Children. Additional areas of expertise include general paediatric clinics and baby checks, treating excessive crying and feeding problems, gastroesophageal reflux in babies, breathing problems, recurrent fevers and frequent infection in babies, as well as diarrhoea, paediatric constipation and tiredness.
Dr Maalouf obtained his primary medical qualification at the University of Dundee in Scotland in 1989, before embarking upon further education and comprehensive specialty training. In 1999, he completed a postgraduate Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree, based on his thesis centred on brain injury in preterm infants and, in the same year, was appointed as a Consultant at Homerton University Hospital in London.
Dr Maalouf is committed to advancing his field of expertise and is actively involved in research. He has published multiple research papers and is the Editor-in-Chief for "Early Human Development", a leading medical research journal. In addition, he is a core member of the Neonatal Society and The British Association of Perinatal Medicine (BAPM) and a Fellow of The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH).
