Dr Duncan Dymond is a Consultant Cardiologist working in the cardiac unit at The Wellington Hospital and he is Emeritus Consultant CardiogiSt at St Bart’s Hospital. He has a specialist interest in adult cardiology, coronary artery disease, interventional cardiology and angioplasty and in cardiac imaging particularly CT and nuclear cardiology

Dr Dymond studied at St Bart’s Hospital Medical School, where he was successfully awarded the Weizman Memorial Prize and was runner up in the Brackenbury Medicine Prize. He qualified in 1972 and obtained MRCP in 1974. Following this, he completed more specialist training in Cardiology. This involved training in both invasive and non-invasive techniques, as well as using radioisotopes in diagnosing coronary artery disease. He was then awarded an MD from the University of London in 1980 for his thesis in cardiology. He then spent 2 years at Mount Sinai Hospital in USA before returning to Barts.

Dr Dymond began working as a Consultant Cardiologist in 1987 at St Bart’s Hospital. He was also previously a council member of the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society and an Honorary Secretary of the British Cardiac Society. He covers all aspects of adult cardiology, including patients with chest pain, dizziness and palpitations. He mainly performs a percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), which includes the use of stents to expand and unblock arteries.
