Dr Basil Almahdi is a Consultant specialising in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine, with a substantive post at Whittington Hospital and private practice across a number of clinics in London. His clinical focus includes the assessment and management of chronic spinal conditions and degenerative disorders of the spine. He treats a broad range of pain presentations, including persistent lower back pain, radicular pain such as sciatica, metastatic bone pain, cancer-related pain requiring palliative input, and neuropathic pain syndromes. He performs image-guided and minimally invasive interventional procedures for degenerative spinal pathology.
He completed his medical qualification in 1997 and subsequently undertook advanced fellowship training in Pain Management at University College Hospital and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. He later worked as a Locum Consultant at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and at the Pain Management Centre within UCLH, where he managed complex and refractory spinal pain cases.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr Almahdi contributes to academic and professional development within the fields of anaesthesia and pain medicine. He participates in research activity and delivers lectures at national and international scientific meetings. He is fluent in both English and Arabic.
